For Danfoss, digitalization opens up new business opportunities and the transition towards more connected and smarter products is a catalyst for driving increased customer value.Digitalization is a top priority in Danfoss. Why? Because the digital revolution holds tremendous opportunities for gaining competitive advantage. Application knowledge“Going digital is the key strategic transformation for our industries. As a company known for our application knowledge, we are dedicated to staying on top of the digital possibilities to make sure that we, as a frontrunner in our businesses, continue to add value to our customers,” says Niels B. Christiansen, Danfoss CEO. Digitalization is a catalyst for developing and creating value. For Danfoss, the digital fast lane leads to even more flexible production, faster design of new technologies,Intelligence is the new blackDanfoss is poised to take full advantage of the digital transformation – its unique, deep application knowledge is crucial when it comes to reaping the fruits of digitalization. “For us, digitalization is a lot about intelligence. With intelligence come business opportunities. If you are an application expert and also own intelligence you are able to develop products based on data and customer insights. That’s when things get interesting and where we can really start adding more value for our customers,” says Niels B. Christiansen. Danfoss Telematics SolutionsDanfoss’ new mobile hydraulics system for off-highway machinery – Danfoss Telematics Solutions – is a beautiful example of how this is done, and how digitalization can be used to expand the business. Danfoss already provides both the hydraulic components and the software that controls them. By adding intelligence to the solution, it is now possible to also continuously compile data on the wear and tear of the off-highway machine – data that enables the owner to predict things like when it is time to change a sensor. This way, spare parts can be ordered well in advance so that inconvenient downtime is avoided, and more importantly, operator safety is not jeopardized.
Added value for our customers“We know our mechanics and hydraulics. But in addition to this, we focus on creating the right software and systems in order to use the data stored in the cloud, and use it to create a new business and added value for our customers,” explains Peter Martin, Chief Information Officer at Danfoss. This is just one example of how Danfoss has its eyes set on using digital technology, combined with expert know-how, as a fast-track to adding even more intelligence to the product portfolio. Digital transformation“No company has all the answers to the changes coming with digitalization. But we do have a significant competitive advantage: Our comprehensive application know-how. Building on that together with our customers is what will ensure our continued success with digital transformation,” concludes Peter Martin.
